Volunteers Needed!

Hoping to get healthier this year? Volunteering can improve your physical and mental health! The many ways volunteering is good for your heartJoin us today to see how you can benefit yourself and our community.

Our top needs right now are for Kitchen Volunteers and Freestyle Clothing Volunteers. Kitchen volunteers are needed on weekdays 10:30-12:30 to organize meals for delivery, set the table, serve the prepared meals, and do light clean-up. The tasks are simple and you get to visit with our wonderful diners.

Freestyle Volunteers can sort and organize clothing donations anytime during SELCC hours (9-4 Monday-Friday). You can also help run a Freestyle shift on Tuesday or Thursday mornings 9-12, or Wednesday evenings 6-8 p.m.

There are lots of other great opportunities waiting for you at SELCC. We look forward to having you join us!

Thanks to Lynch Ford Chevrolet Volunteers!

324 food bags packed in 33 minutes! Thanks to these very efficient volunteers from Lynch Ford Chevrolet, all of the Operation Backpack bags for January are ready to go. 81 kids in Lisbon and Mount Vernon will take home food every Friday, to help them through these long cold weekends.

Could your staff or group of friends beat this record? Call to see how you can help with packing bags or other volunteer opportunities.

#GiveWhereYourHeartIs

Where is your heart today? Still full of joy from Thanksgiving treats or the deal you scored on Black Friday? Today you can share that joy by joining in #GivingTuesday. Here at SELCC, we make it easy to #GiveWhereYourHeartIs. Every dollar you give us is spent to help Mount Vernon and Lisbon residents.

Your donations are our single largest source of funding. We depend on the generosity of donors like you to keep our programs running. Each dollar helps us fill the food pantry, deliver hot meals to seniors, provide a safe place for kids to go after school, or give a warm coat to a child in need. You can help us give holiday food baskets to 80 local households, and gifts to over 120 individuals.

Take a few minutes to give online today, or send a check if you prefer. And if you’d like to give your time, join us as a volunteer. However you choose to give this holiday season, we give you our thanks!

What would the holidays be without a piece of pie to finish the meal? This year you can skip the hard work and still enjoy a delicious dessert. Southeast Linn Community Center is selling homemade take ‘n’ bake 9 inch pies.

Choose from Dutch Apple, covered with a scrumptious crumble topping, or Triple Berry, a flavorful blend of blueberries, red raspberries and blackberries.

Of course, the smartest choice is to get one of each!

Place your order by Friday, November 10th to receive by Thanksgiving. Payment by cash or check is due with the order. Make checks payable to Southeast Linn Community Center.

Who has time to cook on Halloween night? Come to Southeast Linn Community Center from 4:30-7:30 for a delicious, home-cooked meal instead. Fill up on chili, soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, desserts and drinks before you sample the kids’ candy haul.  The cost is only $6 for adults, $3 for ages 5-12, and free for kids under 5.

All proceeds support the programs of Southeast Linn. The Community Center provides services to children, seniors, and families of Lisbon and Mount Vernon. Your bowl of chili can help a child get a warm coat, a senior receive a home-delivered meal, or a family get a box of groceries for the week. After you are warmed up and full of good food, be sure to check out downtown Lisbon’s Halloween Town, for games and trick-or-treating with your neighbors and friends.
