Southeast Linn Community Center’s Board of Directors consists of volunteers who live in Mount Vernon and Lisbon. Our Directors are driven by our vision: We aspire to be a connected community where every person thrives. And they live by our mission: Together We Share.

Marsha Acord
Marsha has served on the Board of Directors since 2023, and this is her second year as Vice President. She also serves on the Finance and Personnel committees. Marsha has long been a friend and supporter of SELCC through her church in Mount Vernon. Marsha first volunteered with SELCC by delivering Meals on Wheels. She often took her kids along to help out, and now her grandkids occasionally enjoy helping. Currently, her favorite volunteer activity is serving with the Summer Meals program. Marsha is retired. She worked as an in-home family counselor, church pastor, and campus minister at the University of Iowa. She lives in Mount Vernon with her husband, Bob Meeker, who also volunteers with and supports SELCC.

Carol Daly
Carol has served on the Board of Directors since January 2025. She is a member of the Nominating committee and the Marketing committee. Carol retired from her professional life as a pediatric physical therapist and educator, and she is grateful to now be able to volunteer for a number of important community efforts, including SELCC. In addition to her work on the Board, Carol has volunteered in the pantry and assisted with summer meals prep in the kitchen. Carol is passionate about Southeast Linn Community Center because of the way its staff and volunteers authentically live its mission: Together We Share. Carol and her husband, Mike, purchased their Lisbon home and acreage in 1974. Their two daughters, Ellen and Annie, attended both Lisbon and Mount Vernon Community Schools.

Mike Myers
Mike joined the Board of Directors in January 2025, and he currently serves on both the Building committee and the Personnel committee. Mike began volunteering for the Southeast Linn Community Center in May 2023. He was attracted to the nonprofit by the impressive breadth of services the small staff was able to offer out of such a small facility; how expertly the volunteers are led; and the way growth is managed. Mike has lived in Lisbon since 1996.

Tyler Owen
Tyler has been on the Board of Directors for the Southeast Linn Community Center since 2025, and he currently serves as a member of the Nominating committee. By day, he’s a software developer at Crystal Group in Hiawatha, where he builds practical tools that support production teams and internal business systems. She began as a volunteer in late 2020 and has been volunteering nearly every Friday since April 2021. Cami is passionate about SELCC because of the impact it has on our community and shared values; particularly, that every person deserves access to food and that lasting social change starts “at home.” Cami lived in Mount Vernon for a few years, but she currently resides in Lisbon with her husband, John, bonus kids Hannah and husband Colby, Hunter, Henry, and their dog, Marrie.

Gary has six children and nine grandchildren, four of whom live in Mount Vernon.

Tawnua Tenley
Tawnua joined the Board of Directors in January 2025. She currently serves as Secretary and as a member of the Marketing committee. She previously served on the Strategic Planning committee. As someone who benefited from WIC and similar programs while she was a single mom, Tawnua is excited to be on the Board so she can now help others. Tawnua is an avid reader and a fan of audiobooks. She also loves to travel, and during the pandemic, she discovered she’s a plant person. Since 2001, she has worked at Mount Vernon High School as an English teacher, speech team coach, and high school instructional coach. Tawnua and her husband have two grown children and two Labrador retrievers. They have called Mount Vernon home since 2004.

She also works as a precinct election official. Mary and her husband Steve enjoy volunteering at SELCC. Mary is passionate about alleviating food insecurity and leveraging our resources to meet the needs of our neighbors and community. Mary and Steve moved to Mount Vernon in 1986. The Mount Vernon/Lisbon area quickly became home as they raised their six kids. When not spending time with their 12 grandchildren, Mary enjoys working in her flower garden and taking daily walks.
