Community Gardens

We maintain two permanent community gardens that provide fresh, healthy produce to our neighbors. During the growing season, the produce is available in our self-serve area. All residents of Mount Vernon, Lisbon, and the surrounding areas are welcome to help themselves.

The Seeds of Faith Lutheran Church community garden was established in spring 2025 with all volunteer labor. It replaced the original garden planted in 2018 on loaned space near the Rehabilitation Center of Lisbon. The community garden at the Lester Buresh Family Community Wellness Center in Mount Vernon was established in 2020.

In 2025, our volunteers harvested 1,617 pounds of produce from the two community gardens combined.

In addition to supplying fresh produce to SELCC and the neighbors we serve, the gardens offer learning opportunities for youth groups.

Volunteers of all ages and abilities are welcome to participate in our garden projects. You can ensure that everyone in our community can enjoy delicious, fresh food all summer long.

A special thanks to Linn County Master Gardeners for the continued support of our community gardens.

Share a Row with SELCC

If you farm or have your own garden, we are happy to accept your donated produce. (So the next time you plant too many tomatoes — think of us!)

If you would like to track your donations, sign up with the Share A Row community-wide project that connects home gardeners with local pantries.

In 2025, generous gardeners and farmers contributed 5,615 pounds of fresh produce to SELCC for distribution to our neighbors. Combined with the harvest from our community gardens, we distributed a total of 7,232 pounds of produce in 2025.
