Food Pantry Needs
Scouting for Food is this Saturday! We’re so grateful to Lisbon Cub Scouts who will be picking up donations to help stock our pantry. Don’t forget to fill your bag and set it out! See below for some of our most-needed items.
Our food pantry has been very busy lately so it is a perfect time for a re-stock. Besides the Scout’s pick-up this weekend, donations can be dropped off any day of the year during our business hours (9-4 Mon-Fri). You can also make financial donations directly to SELCC and designate the money to be spent on pantry items. These monetary donations help us take advantage of great deals when buying in bulk. Donate online, or by cash or check.
In the last four months 331 individuals have received food from our pantry. Thank you for helping us fight hunger here in Mount Vernon – Lisbon!

October fun
Check out the creativity of our After School Cafe students! Yesterday they had a marvelous time painting pumpkins and making monster slime. Thanks to the Mount Vernon Area Arts Council and Cornell students for leading this great activity.
If you have a talent you’d like to share with our students, give us a call. They love learning new things – the messier the better!
After School Cafe Begins Monday, September 17th!
After School Cafe is back in session! Join us beginning Monday, September 17th for snacks, games and enrichment activities. New this year – we will be open on Fridays! Cafe hours are 3:15-5:00 Monday-Friday. Cafe will be closed when Lisbon schools are not in session.
Students age 9 and up are welcome to attend. Younger school-age children may attend with an older sibling. There are no fees for this program, but parents do need to complete permission forms which will be sent home the first time a student attends the Cafe.
We’re excited to welcome Bonnie Montgomery as the new Coordinator for this program. Bonnie has a Master of Science in Psychology and experience as a para-educator and tutor. Bonnie is a Lisbon resident and looks forward to working with the children of the Lisbon- Mount Vernon community.
Please call with any questions. See you after school!
Early Out Movie Today!
Today is our first Early Out Movie day! Join us at 1:30 for “Aliens Ate My Homework.” And free popcorn and drinks of course! Offered in partnership with Lisbon Library.
How will you serve?
On this National Day of Service and Remembrance, we’re reminded of the value of community and of those who put others before themselves. During our darkest times, service and compassion are bright lights of hope.
Today and everyday you can serve your neighbors by volunteering at SELCC. Top volunteer needs right now include; sorting clothing donations, answering phones, calling Bingo on Fridays, or donating breakfast items. Call today to see how you can help!
However you choose to serve the community, thank you for shining a light of hope.
Free Produce!
Grapes, tomatoes, cucumbers, beets, zucchini, more tomatoes – we have an abundance of produce available! Please stop in today and take some to enjoy over the long weekend. It’s all FREE! Help us by taking it while it is fresh. Open to everyone. We’re here until 4:00 today. See you soon!
